The UMC-1600-H is a 50-taper Universal Machining Center based on our highly popular EC-1600ZT HMC. We’ve mounted a massive 630 mm rotary table to the machine’s integrated 4th-axis platter to provide 3+2 positioning and full 5-axis motion for machining large parts.

The machine’s 50-taper cutting ability, heavy-duty rotary axes, and large work envelope make it the perfect 5-axis solution for the large parts found in the oil & gas, alternative energy, and other heavy industries.

Overview

The UMC-1600-H is a full 5-axis, 50-taper universal machining center based on our extremely popular EC-1600ZT HMC frame. The 5th axis has a generous 630 mm (24.8") diameter rotary platter, with a 257 mm (10.125") through-bore.

All of the standard machine specifications and features of the EC-1600 Series models have been incorporated into this completely new 5-axis machine. See a detailed video on the construction and design improvements of the EC-1600 Series models HERE.

To provide full, simultaneous 5th-axis motion, we mounted our all-new heavy-duty HRT630 rotary table to the integrated 4th-axis platter of our EC-1600ZT, using a purpose-built casting. This heavy-duty configuration provides large part capacity and 50-taper machining capabilities for larger 5-axis projects. The 5th-axis has a maximum swing diameter of 48" (1219 mm), and can handle parts up to 1500 lb (680 kg) unsupported, or up to 3000 lb (1361 kg) with an optional outboard support.

Extra-Large 5th-Axis Rotary Table

The main feature that distinguishes the UMC-1600-H from the EC-1600ZT is the addition of our HRT630 rotary table as the 5th axis. This extra-large HRT Series rotary table is perfect for holding large workpieces or fixtures for 5-axis machining. The high-capacity, heavy-duty table is mounted vertically with a unique casting designed for use in this model, and it feature a large through-hole for bar feeding and special fixture-locating requirements. Chucks and fixtures can easily be bolted to the platter using the precision T-slots. See below for other available platter options.

Standard T-Slot Platter

The standard T-slot platter is 630 mm (24.8") outside diameter, with a 10.125" (257.18 mm) through-bore. It features 8 standard T-slots equally spaced at 45 degrees.

The optional short support can be used to attach a tailstock or other support device. A long support will also be available (see image below).

Optional Platter With Hole Patterns for Mounting Sub-Plates

An optional platter with multiple bolt-hole patterns is available in place of the standard T-slot platter. This optional platter is also 630 mm (24.8") outside diameter, with a 10.125" ( 257.18 mm) through-bore diameter.

The optional long support can be used to attach a tailstock or other support device. A short support will also be available (see image above).

Optional Platter With A1-20 Spindle Nose For Mounting Chucks

The optional platter with A1-20 spindle nose is available for easy, accurate mounting of aftermarket chucks.

Productivity options may include a mill vise mounting location, and possible steady rest options
